Responsibility and Generosity
Just last week, I had the privilege of attending the International Justice Mission (IJM) Seattle Benefit Dinner to hear IJM CEO Gary Haugen share the latest news from the front line of the war on human trafficking. If you have never heard the term “human trafficking” I would highly recommend reading up on it – to say that human trafficking is “terrible” would be a severe understatement.

Although I would love to share all the impactful thoughts and moving stories from Gary’s address, there are a few cities that have yet to attend their upcoming IJM Benefit Dinner and I’d hate to take anything away from the experience of hearing Gary in person. However, there is one quote in particular that has lingered on my mind and heart, which I cannot help but to share…
Those of us who have freedom are responsible for those who don’t.
In its truth and simplicity, that statement demands my generosity. Does it demand yours?
Even though I support IJM, I am not inferring that you have to (though you can here). However, knowing what you know about human trafficking, can you really be “okay” with ignoring the surge of generosity you are undoubtedly feeling? It’s your choice as to whether you will be generous with your time, your skills, or your resources, but either way, I hope you seriously contemplate and decide to do something to help eradicate human trafficking.
